Monday - May 24 th, 2010 @ 7 pm!
This will be a Chapter - Business Meeting / No Special Program. We will discuss the costs of our Chapter Charter Celebration, and pay final bill. We did Ok .. in regard to costs, and should have a nice balance in our checking account. We will also discuss setting the date to present the Fireman his SAR Heroism Medal, for saving a little boy from drowning .. in a Pond, in Hocking County.
*Hoping we can do this .. at our June meeting.
Also hoping to get copies of the "Americanism Contest" ( President's Cup ) Competition forms, to give a copy to each member present, at our Monday - May 24 th. Meeting @ 7 pm, at the American Legion.
Wanting to show all members .. what SAR Programs are available to us - to participate in. "Something for Everyone" .. I am sure. ( For those interested ).
Also .. want to talk about the possibility of sponsoring a "SAR Patriot Grave Marking" in Somerset ( Perry County ) for 1 st. Lt. Edward Rose ( Roose ), a Rev. War soldier .. who is buried in a little cemetery in Somerset, near Pigs Foot Square, and Jacob Miller's Tavern.
I was first approached about this .. by a member of the "Perry County Historical Society", ( P.C.H.S.) who is interested in having the SAR .. do a Patriot Grave Marking .. for Patriot Rose. I am thinking we could unveil .. a "SAR Bronze Stake Marker" ( Patriot Grave Marker ) at his grave site. The Markers cost $120 or more dollars.
The P.C.H.S. is planning a "Oktoberfest" in Somerset, in October 2010.
IF we could .. this would be a Great Time to have the Patriot Grave Marking .. in conjunction with their planned celebration.*Would add to the Community Event, and draw more attention to the Grave Marking.
Note: I think our chapter - can afford the Marker - if enough interest among our members.. in performing the ceremony. We can also listen to any others .. who have something they would like to share.
Saturday - June 19 th, 2010 @ 11 am!
No Program Scheduled .. at this time / Just our meeting date!
Note: I am hopeful we can agree to present the "Fireman" his "Heroism Medal" at this meeting.
( Hopefully Mike Tharp Jr .. will be able to attend our May meeting .. and work on getting this program set up.) I think Paul Irwin .. will be helpful in this endeavor also.
Added Note: The American Legion has a Public "All you can Eat" Breakfast .. from 7 to 11 am. I plan to stop in Early for Breakfast prior to our meeting. Say maybe ( for those wanting to eat Breakfast ) we get to the Legion by 10:15 am, to eat breakfast & share in some fellowship .. prior to our 11 am. meeting ? ( Individual Choice ) .. "Gotta Love - Freedom of Choice"
Saturday - July 17 th, 2010 @ 11 am!
( Starting to see a Saturday - Breakfast Trend )
Compatriot Dave Nessley .. likes Breakfast ;-)
According to Dave .. the "All You Can Eat" ( Breakfast ) only costs $4.50 per person.
Sounds like a Great "Meal Deal" ( Count Me In! )
No Program Set ( as yet ) .. so Pencil in this date ( July 17 th ) as a "Hocking Valley Chapter" meeting, as we will advise as time nears .. as to our program plan.
